Dialer comparison

Trellus vs. Dialpad: Parallel Dialing Inside Your CRM or an AI Phone, Sales and Contact-Center Platform

Trellus and Dialpad overlap on outbound calling and live AI coaching, but they are different purchases. Dialpad is an AI-powered communications platform: Connect for business calling, messaging and meetings, Sell for outbound sales teams, Support for contact centers and Resolve for AI agents. Its Dialer runs campaigns from lists loaded into Dialpad. Trellus is a Chrome extension that adds power and parallel dialing, and live AI coaching, to the CRM, sales engagement platform or spreadsheet a team already works in. The two also work together: Trellus can add live coaching to calls placed in the Dialpad web app. This guide compares the documented workflows so a team can test the one that fits.

Published by Trellus, which has a commercial interest in this comparison. Dialpad's pricing page, product pages and help center were checked November 2, 2026. Dialpad capabilities below come from Dialpad's own website and help center; we did not test a Dialpad account. Dialpad's sources differ on which plan includes its dialer: the pricing page lists a Power Dialer on every Support (contact center) plan, while help center articles updated in October 2026 say the Dialpad Dialer requires Sell Premium licenses. Prices are Dialpad's US list prices, which Dialpad says can vary by region and currency. This is a workflow comparison, not a performance benchmark.

The short answer

Dialpad is an AI communications platform that bundles business phone service, texting, meetings and inbound routing, with real-time AI coaching from Sell Advanced and published per-user prices; its progressive Dialer runs outbound campaigns from lists loaded into Dialpad and, per its help center, needs Sell Premium licenses ($79 per user per month billed annually), a Contact Center and outbound calling credits. Trellus is a Chrome extension that power dials, or parallel dials up to five numbers at once, from the list a rep already has open in a supported CRM, sales engagement platform or Google Sheet, for a published $99.99 or $149.99 per seat per month, with real-time AI coaching on its custom-priced Business plan. Choose Dialpad when you want one platform for numbers, inbound calls, texting, meetings and campaign dialing; choose Trellus when reps should dial from the views they already work in, or when you keep Dialpad and want Trellus coaching on its web calls.

If your reps make a small number of researched calls and your current calling already logs outcomes where managers look, you may not need either.

Where the list lives: your CRM view or a Dialpad Dialer campaign

Dialpad's Dialer overview describes a progressive outbound dialer built into Dialpad that dials through a list, connects only answered calls to available agents, and applies rules for when to call, how often to call and who not to call. Its setup guide lists three requirements: at least one Contact Center, Dialpad Sell Premium licenses for the users who dial, and outbound calling credits. Leads, lists and campaigns live at dialer.dialpad.com, and lists come from Dialpad's Lead Module, a CSV upload, the API or a Salesforce list. Each campaign names the Contact Center that dials it and its caller ID, then sets a schedule (campaigns can be scheduled up to 7 days ahead and run up to 7 days), the internal Do Not Contact list (on by default), how each lead's time zone is worked out, the days and hours calls are allowed, and 1 to 15 total attempts with delays and result rules. It can also text opted-in leads after the last attempt and show agents up to 10 lead properties during the call.

Inside Salesforce, Dialpad offers a Lightning CTI for click-to-call, transfers, notes and logging, and a Salesforce Powerdialer that Dialpad now labels a legacy feature, pointing to the new Dialer. It needs a Dialpad Sell license and agents assigned to a Contact Center. Admins build static or dynamic lists of Leads, Contacts, Opportunities or Accounts, up to 50,000 records each, then assign and rank them; agents press Start Dialing in the CTI and get wrap-up time after each call. In HubSpot, Support and Sell customers can pick Dialpad, listed as a beta, as the calling provider; Dialpad notes the embedded widget can refresh when a rep moves between records, so calls can also run in a separate Dialpad window. Outreach can use Dialpad as its voice provider on Connect or Sell accounts, but not Support. The Dialpad Chrome extension adds click-to-call and texting on Zendesk, Kustomer, Zoho, HubSpot, Copper, Dynamics and Google apps out of the box, and on other domains an admin adds; Dialpad calls it a basic CTI that won't work with systems that have their own dedicated CTI, such as Salesforce.

Trellus is a Chrome extension each rep installs. It opens beside the contact list or calling view your integration supports, such as HubSpot, Salesforce, Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo or Google Sheets, so reps call from the lists they already keep and there is no separate calling list to maintain. AI fills in the call result and a summary; reps can add notes, schedule a follow-up, complete the call task and attach the recording link, with the transcript as an option. By default, no-answers, voicemails and wrong numbers are logged automatically. Every plan includes power dialing on all supported platforms, and admins can set and lock team defaults for each platform. See the Trellus dialer for the calling flow.

What lands in the CRM depends on the platform for both. Dialpad's Salesforce CTI logs each call as a Task that a rep can relate to a case, opportunity or custom object, stores the recording under that Task, and can create an account, contact or lead for an unknown caller; if logging is not mandatory, a rep can skip the subject and notes. Its HubSpot integration logs the subject, deal, outcome and notes, and adds a call summary and action items when Dialpad AI is enabled. Dialpad's CRM integrations and other integrations sections also cover Zoho CRM, Pipedrive, Copper, Bullhorn, ServiceNow, Microsoft Dynamics 365, Kustomer, Freshdesk, Intercom and Zapier, among others. We did not find Salesloft, Apollo, Close, Attio, GoHighLevel or Google Sheets there.

Lines per agent or up to five lines per rep, and what happens when someone answers

Dialpad's Dialer has a Lines per agent setting on each campaign, raised or lowered with plus and minus controls, to pace dialing for the agents who are available; the overview describes this as N:1 lines per agent and does not publish a maximum. Because calls are matched to whichever agent in the Contact Center is free, the campaign also has a disconnect message: if no agent is available when someone answers, the person hears that message before the call ends. When voicemail is detected, the campaign either leaves a recorded message or ends the call; for calls reps place themselves, voicemail drop is part of the Reach Booster module, included from Sell Advanced and an add-on on Essentials. The overview also lists a Do Not Call scrub with an audit trail, multiple passes, a screen pop to the agent and Dialer analytics. Dialpad's power dialer page explains how predictive dialers work, but we did not find a predictive mode documented for the Dialer. Ask for the line ratio and pacing your plan allows.

Trellus Power calls one number at a time. Power + Parallel calls up to five numbers at once and connects the rep with whoever answers. The dialer includes Hot Numbers pickup ordering. On eligible parallel calls, Trellus waits for the voicemail tone to play a recorded message, and reps can record a separate introduction for phone call screeners. By default Trellus dials between 8 AM and 6 PM in each prospect's local time and holds back numbers marked Do Not Call, or contacts marked Do Not Contact in the CRM, and teams can keep their own Do Not Call list.

The models differ in who owns the list. Dialpad's Dialer is built around shared campaigns that a Contact Center works through, which suits a team calling one prepared list. Trellus has each rep dial the view they already work, which suits reps who own their own accounts or sequences. More lines suit large, prepared lists where most calls go unanswered; a promised callback usually goes better one number at a time. Neither approach guarantees a conversation, so compare connected conversations with the intended person, not dials.

A communications platform or a dialing layer: numbers, inbound, texting, coaching and AI agents

Phone numbers and caller ID

On Dialpad Sell, every user gets a direct line, and the pricing page lists extra local and toll-free numbers and a local number package as add-ons, with caller ID that users can change. Local Presence, for US numbers only, matches the caller ID to the recipient's area code. It is included on Sell Advanced and Premium and is a paid add-on otherwise, sold as Top 100 Metro Areas (about 80% of the US population), individual numbers or a Complete Package (about 95%). Returned calls ring the rep who placed the original call first. Dialpad says it supports local numbers in more than 50 countries. Its sign-up guide notes that extra numbers can be added only once an account is paid, not during the trial.

Trellus includes 5 additional numbers on Power and 8 on Power + Parallel. You can search by area code, state or city, or bring your own number, which counts toward the plan's limit. By default Trellus calls from your geographically closest number, or it can rotate through your numbers or always use one. An admin completes spam remediation, first STIR/SHAKEN business verification and then the Free Caller Registry, and can then register a caller ID name; whether it shows depends on the prospect's carrier. Each number shows Clean, Warning, Flagged or Untested from roughly weekly checks, with its dials and connect rate for the last 14 days. Trellus calls the countries your account is set up for, with caller IDs from a specific country.

Inbound calls, texting, meetings and devices

This is where Dialpad does more. Its plan tables list departments with an IVR, simultaneous ringing, round-robin and longest-idle routing, and open, closed and holiday hours on Sell and Connect; Support adds full contact-center routing, including skills-based routing, queue priority, callback requests and digital channels. Connect includes SMS, MMS and team messaging, and Sell includes 250 outbound texts pooled across the account plus inbound texts. Every plan includes Dialpad Meetings. Dialpad runs on desktops, laptops, iOS and Android phones, tablets and desk phones, and calls can be placed in Chrome without a download (AI transcription page).

Trellus is built around calling from the CRM rather than as a full phone system. Callbacks ring in the Chrome tab that holds the Trellus line, with the contact's details and recent call history, or at a forwarding number you set, and missed calls from the last 7 days stay in a list. With routing turned on, depending on plan, each number can ring a team or subteam, one rep or an outside number, with an optional greeting. Trellus does not list texting, IVR menus, call queues, meetings or a mobile app; it runs in Chrome on a Mac or Windows computer.

Coaching during and after calls

Dialpad has live AI coaching too, and publishes its price. Every Sell plan includes real-time transcripts, shareable AI Recaps with action items, speech coaching (such as talking too fast), live sentiment, and manager listen, barge and takeover. Sell Advanced adds the Live Coach module: Real-Time Assist cards that managers set to appear automatically when, for example, a competitor is mentioned, Custom Moments and an AI Assistant (sales dialer page, AI Live Coach). Sell Premium adds the Quality Management module: AI CSAT, AI Scorecards that score every call (Dialpad Sell), and AI Playbooks, which suggest questions to ask during a call, such as budget or timeline for a method like BANT or SPIN, and check them off when covered (sales dialer page).

Trellus's Business plan adds real-time AI coaching: a live transcript and suggested responses while the rep is still on the call, in English, Spanish, French, German or Dutch, with custom suggestions and objection handlers. On the Salesfloor, which teams can add by asking in a demo, a manager can listen, request a whisper that only the rep hears once accepted, or join the call with a dialing seat. Power + Parallel includes unlimited AI practice calls in 17 languages and variants, graded after each session. Team analytics and conversation intelligence are on Business.

AI voice agents

Both offer AI agents that talk to callers themselves. Dialpad's Resolve is its platform for voice and digital AI agents that answer, schedule, update records and hand a conversation to a person with context; on the pricing page it is custom-priced, with a pool of AI Agent Credits used only for conversations where the agent retrieves information or takes an action. Trellus voice agents answer inbound calls, on a phone number or a website voice widget, and place outbound calls, handling voicemail and call screeners before the live greeting. Each follows a script your team writes, collects details such as name, email and callback number, and can transfer to a phone number or another agent. They speak English, Spanish, French, German and Dutch, plus mixed English and Spanish, send the fields you define by webhook, SFTP, SMS or Slack, and are set up with the Trellus team.

Using Trellus with Dialpad

Teams do not have to choose one or the other. The Trellus integration for Dialpad adds live coaching, on Trellus Business plans, to calls placed in the Dialpad web app in Google Chrome, including the main call bar and embedded call views. Reps place and control the call in Dialpad as usual; Trellus recognizes the active call and keeps the visible contact name, preferred phone number or participant label with the coaching session. Trellus does not replace Dialpad's dialer or place calls for Dialpad: Dialpad keeps contacts, the dialer, messages, phone numbers, call controls and the native call record. Trellus's Power and Power + Parallel dialing plans do not include this coaching; it is part of the custom-priced Business plan.

Where each fits

Choose Trellus when

  • Reps work in a sales engagement platform, CRM or sheet such as Outreach, Salesloft, Apollo, Close, Attio, GoHighLevel or Google Sheets, and you want them to dial the view they already have open instead of a separate campaign list.
  • Each rep works their own accounts or sequences and you want up to five lines per rep on a published plan, bought online one seat at a time.
  • You already use Dialpad, or another phone system, for inbound calls and texting, and want dialing or live coaching added rather than the phone system replaced.
  • You want AI practice calls alongside parallel dialing.

Choose Dialpad when

  • You want one vendor for business numbers, calling, texting, video meetings, inbound IVR and routing, and outbound campaigns, with desktop, mobile and desk phone apps.
  • You run outbound as shared campaigns that a contact-center team works through, with attempt rules, calling windows and Do Not Call scrubbing set per campaign.
  • Your CRM is Salesforce, or another one Dialpad documents, and reps can work from Dialpad's CTI and Dialer lists.
  • You want in-call AI guidance and manager listen, barge and takeover at a published per-user price, or a 14-day free trial before you buy.
  • You need a contact center for support or collections alongside sales, on the same platform.

Use both when

Dialpad is your phone system and reps place calls in the Dialpad web app, and you want Trellus live coaching on those calls (Trellus Business).

Keep what you have when

Your current calling already reaches people and logs outcomes where managers look. A new dialer will not fix a weak list, an unclear disposition set or an unowned callback process.

Both publish per-seat prices. Dialpad's pricing page shows annual billing by default and higher month-to-month prices, and notes that prices can differ by region and currency. The table uses only published numbers; taxes and usage are excluded.

On list price, Dialpad Sell Premium costs less per seat than Trellus Power + Parallel, and it includes a phone system, texting and meetings. The comparison is not like for like, though, so price the whole stack on both sides. Dialpad's Dialer needs outbound calling credits that are not priced on the pricing page; its plan tables list unlimited US and Canada calling, excluding toll-free, with an exception noted for Dialer calls. Add the Contact Center setup, Local Presence package and numbers you need, and the contract term. Trellus plans include standard (Power) or high (Power + Parallel) dialing limits described in its Terms, sit beside the CRM or sales engagement platform you already pay for, and do not replace a phone system for inbound calls and texting. If you keep Dialpad and add Trellus coaching, budget Trellus Business on top of your Dialpad plan. See Trellus pricing.

Check the terms as well. Dialpad's pricing FAQ says Sell Advanced is available month to month or annually and Premium annually only, with a discount for annual plans. Sell Essentials can be bought online, while Advanced and Premium go through sales. Dialpad's sign-up guide says you enter a payment method when you sign up for the 14-day free trial, and that a trial account can be used only in the country where it was created. Trellus has no free trial; Power and Power + Parallel are bought online with no seat minimum. Single-seat plans can pause or cancel in Billing, larger plans request changes through the Support Center, and when a plan is cancelled calling stops right away and numbers may be released.

Test before you commit

  1. Start where reps work. Use one rep and one real list. In Dialpad, build the Dialer list from a CSV, the Lead Module or a Salesforce list and run it through a Contact Center; in Trellus, start from the CRM or sales engagement view itself. Note how each list stays in step with the CRM.
  2. Dial the same list. Set Dialpad's lines per agent to what your plan allows and note when its disconnect message plays; run up to five lines in Trellus. Compare the pause after a prospect answers and how voicemail is handled.
  3. Reopen the record. Confirm the outcome, notes, recording or transcript link, completed task and follow-up landed on the right contact, company and deal, with the right owner.
  4. Test the coaching on the same calls. Compare Dialpad's Real-Time Assist cards and AI Assistant with Trellus suggested responses on your own objections. If you plan to keep Dialpad, try Trellus coaching on a Dialpad web call.
  5. Test the rest of the phone job. Call back a number you dialed from, send a text if you need texting, and check where inbound calls ring when a rep is away from the computer.
  6. Price the full scope. Get Dialpad's quote in writing with the Sell tier, outbound calling credits, Local Presence package, numbers and contract term, and compare it with Trellus's published plan plus whatever phone and texting tools you would keep.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dialpad have a parallel or predictive dialer?

Dialpad describes its Dialer as a progressive dialer that dials several lines per agent (N:1), set per campaign, and connects only answered calls to available agents; it does not publish a maximum line count, and we did not find a predictive mode in its documentation. Its help center says the Dialer needs Sell Premium licenses, a Contact Center and outbound calling credits. Trellus Power calls one number at a time, and Power + Parallel calls up to five numbers at once.

How much does Dialpad cost?

Dialpad publishes per-user prices. Billed annually, Sell is $39, $59 or $79 per user per month (Essentials, Advanced, Premium), Connect is $15 or $25 with Enterprise quoted, and Support is $89, $119 or $149; month-to-month prices are higher, and Resolve AI agents are custom-priced. Dialer calling credits, Local Presence packages and extra numbers are not priced publicly. Trellus publishes Power at $99.99 and Power + Parallel at $149.99 per seat per month.

Does Dialpad dial inside my CRM like Trellus?

Partly. Dialpad's Salesforce CTI places and logs calls inside Lightning, and its legacy Salesforce Powerdialer works through Salesforce record lists; HubSpot and Outreach can use Dialpad as their calling provider, and a Chrome extension adds click-to-call on supported sites. Dialpad Dialer campaigns run from lists loaded into Dialpad. Trellus power and parallel dials from the list or calling view open in a supported CRM, sales engagement platform or Google Sheet.

Can I use Trellus with Dialpad?

Yes. On Trellus Business plans, Trellus adds live coaching to calls placed in the Dialpad web app in Chrome. Dialpad still places and controls the call and keeps contacts, messages, numbers and the call record; Trellus does not dial for Dialpad.

Do both coach reps during calls?

Yes. Dialpad Sell includes live transcripts, live sentiment and manager listen, barge and takeover on every plan, and Live Coach cards and an AI Assistant from Sell Advanced. Trellus Business adds a live transcript and suggested responses during the call, and managers on the Trellus Salesfloor can listen, whisper and join.

Do Dialpad and Trellus offer AI voice agents?

Both do. Dialpad Resolve offers voice and digital AI agents with custom, per-conversation pricing. Trellus voice agents answer inbound calls and place outbound calls from your script, collect caller details, transfer the call to a phone number or another voice agent, and are set up with the Trellus team.
